Call for Entries: 'Go Vote 08' Video PSA Contest
RALEIGH - The N.C. Center for Voter Education is currently accepting 30-second video entries for the Go Vote 08 PSA Contest, with divisions for high school students, college students and non-students.
The theme for the public service announcements is "go vote." Cash prizes will be awarded in each division -- $500 for first place; $100 for second, $50 for third -- with one overall winner given a bonus of $500, for a total grand prize of $1,000.
Entries must be nonpartisan, meaning they cannot support or oppose any political party or candidate. Selected entries will be posted online and distributed to television stations throughout North Carolina to air in the weeks before Election Day.
The submission deadline is Oct. 1 -- mailed entries must be postmarked no later than that date.
Complete contest details are available at http://www.govotenc.com/contest or by calling the N.C. Center for Voter Education, toll free, at 1-877-258-6837.
"The aim of this contest is to use the creative spirit of North Carolinians, and of students especially, to inspire voters to go to the polls this Election Day," said John Thompson, executive director of the N.C. Center for Voter Education.
Launched in 2004, this is the third election cycle for the Go Vote PSA Contest, which has produced winners from across North Carolina and as far away as Montana.
The Raleigh-based N.C. Center for Voter Education is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, dedicated to improving elections in North Carolina.
