Honoring Our African-American Former Justices:
A new DVD from the N.C. Center for Voter Education
RALEIGH - For the first time ever on DVD, North Carolina's three African-American former Justices of the Supreme Court share first-hand their inspiring stories and hopes for improved justice in our state.
This special DVD features Hon. Henry Frye, the first African-American Associate Justice and Chief Justice of the NC Supreme Court, as well as the first African-American member of the General Assembly since Reconstruction. Fellow former Justices James Wynn and G.K. Butterfield join Hon. Frye as they are distinguished at a dinner attended by friends, family and leading members of the state's judicial system.
Appearing as the event's keynote speaker is Spencer Overton, a Professor of Law at George Washington University. Professor Overton utilizes his years of civil rights and campaign finance reform studies to articulate the accomplishments of these former justices and to call for reasonable measures ensuring fair courts.
An excellent tool for the classroom and a poignant program for the home, this DVD contains the hour-long event, as well as special features, including: biographies on each speaker, chapter selection for easy reference and a short video on the Center for Voter Education.
Also featured is a video summary on the NC Public Campaign Financing Fund, its history and the means by which the new program can level the playing field for all judicial candidates.
This limited edition DVD is available for $19.95 by contacting the NC Center for Voter Education toll-free at 1-877-253-7819
