Judicial Campaign Reform Nears Final Passage in N.C.

On Wednesday, September 25th the North Carolina House of Representative’s passed the Judicial Campaign Reform Act on second reading by a vote of 57-55. The bill was passed by the N.C. Senate last fall. Third and final reading could come as soon as Thursday, September 26th. The proposal would create full public financing for Supreme Court and Court of Appeals candidates starting in 2004, as well as make those races nonpartisan and create a statewide voter guide for candidates in such races.
